About Us / The Quest
Don Loving and Pete Siderius are just two average guys (and average golfers) from Newberg, Oregon, who decided in 2007 to embark upon a simple quest: play every golf course in Oregon.
At first, the mission was to play every public course (although the idea of every course was always lurking). But when we learned that "private" has a different meaning in rural areas — i.e., you're welcome to play here if you don't live here — The Quest soon changed to every course, period.
One of the "rules" is that we have to play the course together. Don is a native Oregonian and has been golfing here longer than Pete, although at this point in The Quest there aren't a lot of courses left that Don has played that Pete hasn't. We buy a logo ball from every course we play, and courses that don't have logo balls are seriously downgraded.
For the curious, Don is a communications and political consultant. Pete is an Earth Sciences teacher at Newberg High School. We have been close friends for many years, have children the same ages and attend Family Life Church in Newberg. FYI, Pete is the blond one and Don had Lasik surgery in 2009 and no longer wears glasses. Additionally, two of Don's classmates from Forest Grove High School 1976, Dave Cadd and Mitch Nosack, frequently join us on our golf sojourns.
Our home course is Chehalem Glenn Golf Course in Newberg. Both Don and Pete have ties to the Chehalem Park & Recreation District, which built and operates Chehalem Glenn. When we're not out on The Quest, we're at Chehalem Glenn. Don is also partial to Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond, where the Loving family has long owned a timeshare.
Finally, a huge THANK YOU to Timothy Johnson and Darius Barnes of Unions-America for providing us this website. We'll see you guys on the tee box soon!
