Welcome to Don and Pete
Golf Oregon! Whether you've landed
here by accident or on purpose, we're happy you're here. So what's the deal,
you may be asking? You can read more details in The
Quest, but the bottom line is that Don (Loving) and Pete (Siderius) are
just two average guys (and average golfers) from Newberg, Oregon, who in 2007
started a "mission" — a.k.a. "The Quest" — to play every golf
course in Oregon.
DonAndPeteGolfOregon.com
is our way of sharing this experience with you. There are lots of places to
read reviews of specific golf courses — mostly written by golf
professionals, travel professionals or others who have some vested interest in
making every place sound wonderful. How many course reviews have you read that
say "This course stinks?" If Don and Pete find a stinker (and we have), you're
going to hear about it. Oh, and did they have logo balls? We're both collecting
and displaying a logo ball from each course as we play it, so we get really
irritated when we find a course without one.
Our four most common
questions, along with our usual answers:
Why are you doing this? Mostly because Don came up with the idea, and
Pete agreed that it sounded like fun.
How many courses have you played? That number is displayed and updated in the
upper left hand corner, just below the date box.
What's your favorite course? Can't answer that until we've played them all.
But again, check the left hand column for Don and Pete's personal top five
courses to date.
What are you going to do when you finish? One, be more inclined to go back and play some
of the courses we liked again. We like Aspen Lakes in Sisters and Lost
Tracks in Bend, for example, just to pull two out of the hat. But going
back to one of those right now is an opportunity lost to hit another
course on the list. Hopefully, by the time we finish we'll be so famous
that we'll have our own Golf Channel show, Don and Pete Golf America, where we'll be flying in to the best courses
worldwide.
Alas, in the meantime, the
Vernonia Golf Club awaits. Fore!
